A city court today adjourned the bail plea of A S Bindra, industrialist and father of Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra, in the case of cheating a finance company and a private bank of crores of rupees.

Bindra took loans of Rs 9 crore from the Indus Bank and the Apple Finance Company on the basis of forged documents to extend his business and purchase a farm house in Zirakpur.

After being found unable to pay the loan amount in prescribed period, the complainant bank verified the property of the accused on the basis of the submit document.

The verification showed that five cheques, issued by Bindra, had zero balance in the accounts and the said property documents were also fake.

The bail application of Bindra is pending before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ajay Pandey in Patiala House Court.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi police had arrested Bindra on May 14 from his farmhouse on the Zirakpur-Batala Highway.

He immediately had to be taken to Government Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh, after he complained of acute chest pain.

Bindra would be produced in the Court after being discharged from the hospital.
