Delhi HC Asks For Status Report Of Flat Allotments In DDA Scam 1/14/2009 The Delhi High Court issued notice to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on a petition filed over the alleged irregularities in the allotment of 5,010 flats and asked DDA to file its status report by February 2 regarding the verification of the credentials of the allotees. Justice Hima Kohli issued notice to DDA seeking details of scrutiny done by it and the status report of what action has been taken against those who were allotted flats on the basis of false documents. Petitioner S C Jain prayed to the court that the draw, which was held on December 16,2008 be quashed as the process adopted by DDA was not proper. Counsels for the petitioner Sugriv Dubey and Ms Namita contended before the court that irregularities of all sorts have taken place in the allotment. While naming a few of them, they said DDA collected crores of rupees from innocent people and more than 5,66,906 forms were submitted whereas only 5238 flats were to be allotted. Alleging that the draw system was defective, Mr Dubey said though the computer had to pick up random application numbers, flats were allotted in a series to some property dealers. Apprehending the connivance some DDA officials with the property dealers, he argued that all the developments in the draw of flats creates doubts in the minds of people that the process was rigged. The counsel further told the court that the draw was not done in open and even the website declaring the results could not be accessed by the public whereas the property dealers had the lists of successful candidates, which further strengthens the doubt. It was also contended on behalf of the petitioner that DDA spokespersons have themselves stated that after scrutiny they will cancel all such allotments which are found to have false information’s. Seeking the cancellation of the draw the petitioner prayed that in the interest of the justice a fresh draw of lots should be conducted. UNI
