Govt clears MoU between India and Mauritius The government today gave its approval for signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Mauritius that will enable both countries to conduct training programmes in old age care, drug abuse prevention and care of children in difficult circumstances. "The MoU includes conducting training programmes in human resource development and facilitates exchange of officers and experts between the two governments in social defence," Union Minister of Science and Technology Kapil Sibal told reporters in New Delhi after a Cabinet meeting. The MoU includes devising and arranging various schemes in social defence and conducting training programmes in drug abuse prevention. It also stipulates organising training programmes in old age care and human resource development. The MoU also involves sharing of information and experience on best practises and mutual use of database between the two countries. The MoU was signed on 3rd November 2007. Among others, the Cabinet also gave its approval to a proposal from Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to set up mini tool rooms in the country under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. The tool rooms would be set up in cooperation with the state governments, industries, associations, NGOs or individuals. About 10 mini tool rooms have already been set up. The proposal is one of the recommendations of National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council set up by the government with a view to improve the competitiveness of the Indian manufacturing industry.
