Human Trafficking case: Court's no to release MP's air tickets A Delhi court has refused to release impounded air tickets of suspended BJP MP Babubhai Katara, arrested in connection with a human trafficking case, terming them as one of the "best evidence" against him. "These air tickets are very material evidence and one of the best evidence against the accused. Therefore, I am not inclined to release these air tickets," Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate A K Kuhar said. It is the basic law of evidence that the best proof should be placed before the court during the trial, the court added. Opposing the plea to release the air tickets, the Delhi Police Crime Branch said, "Accused Katara was taking two other passengers Paramjit Kaur and a teenaged boy under fake names showing them as his wife and son. These tickets are an important piece of evidence against the accused MP." An application was earlier filed seeking release of the impounded air tickets of the 47-year-old lawmaker and two others on the ground that those was no longer required for the investigation in the case. It was also stated that a chargesheet had already been filed in the case against Katara, who represents reserved Dohad Lok Sabha seat in Gujarat. Katara, whose seven attempts to secure bail have been rejected by various courts on the ground that his offence was serious as he committed it in the capacity of an MP, was chargesheeted by the police in July last year.
