The Madras High Court has permitted a final year student of the Government Law College in Tiruchirapalli to sit for X and IX semesters examinations of the five-year B L course.
Justice M Jaichandren in his judgment, permitted the student to sit for the exams.
In his petition, S Basheer Mohideen of Thanjavur submitted that he had studied all semesters and took the examinations from the first year.
He had attended all practicals. Even as he was waiting to attend the final year examination, he found his name in the list of students, who were placed under Re-do the course. When he inquired with the college office, he was told that he did not have sufficient attendance for X semester.
He had attended most of the classes in the semester.
He said the scheduled working days per semester were 90 days.
But because of the clash between law college students in November last year, all law colleges remained closed till January.
He was allowed to appear for the arrears examination in IX semester on June 20, but not permitted to sit for the examinations commencing today.
