New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) Delhi High Court has allowed Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to go ahead with their ongoing project of building their station and platform at Azadpur (North Delhi) but the Court has refrained DMRC from making any Mall there without the prior approval of the concerned authority. Acting on a petition of the Azadpur Gaon Residents Welfare Association, Justice Sanjive Khanna directed the DMRC to refrain from building any Mall or any other commercial activity as the land is reseved as green area. Mr Puneet Mittal, Lawyer for the petitioner told the court that the Metro-cum Mall at Azadpur is illegal as the area where the construction is being carried on is reserved for the green area. The Master plan of Delhi also shows the area where Metro station has come up is reserved as green area. No construction work can be carried there without the approval of the concerned authority. Mr Virender Sood and Mr Anshuman Sood, lawyers for DMRC told the Court that all plans to construct the station and platform for the Metro rail have got approval from the concerned authorities so there is no violation of any law. The lawyers added that as far as Mall is concerned, they will not make any construction without prior approval of the concerned authorities. The Court accepted the undertaking given by DMRC and allowed them to go ahead with the project which has got prior approval from the concerned department.
