President assents to Whistleblowers Protection Bill, 2011

The President, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee has given his assent to Whistleblowers Protection Bill, 2011 which was passed by the Parliament in the last Winter Session.

The Bill seeks to provide protection to persons reporting corruption or willful misuse of discretion by public servants, including Ministers. 

The Bill also provides for setting up a mechanism to encourage persons to disclose such information.
