The Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by former MP from Telangana region seeking directions to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy to accept the resignation of 139 MLAs from Telangana region.

A bench comprising Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, Justices J M Panchal and Deepak Verma dismissed the petition filed by M Narayen Reddy, ex MP, as infructous since the Speaker had already rejected the resignations submitted by the MLAs.

The Centre has already taken a decision to appoint a commission to consider the demand for a separate state as also objections to be filed by the people from other regions of Andhra Pradesh.
