The Supreme Court today came down heavily on private educational institutions playing with the career of students by making admissions without getting recognition and affiliation from a University and keeping the students in dark.

A vacation bench comprising Justices B Sudarshan Reddy and Aftab Alam issued notices to the state of Madhya Pradesh on a petition filed by one such unrecognised and unaffiliated private college seeking directions to the state government to permit B Ed students to appear in the examinations.

The highly annoyed Judges observed, "Protagonists of privatisation of education in the country must see what is happening in these private educational institutions which are being allowed to function without recognition, affiliation and basic infrastructure by charging hefty fees from the unsuspecting victims of such fraud." The apex court refused to grant an interim stay against the judgement of Jabalpur Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, which had dismissed their petition seeking permission for the students to appear in the annual examinations.

It observed that the MP High Court, which had passed severe strictures against the Education Department of the state, has dealt with the issue involved immaculately.
