President Pratibha Patil has had a busy few days with the transfers of High Court Judges.

Justice Anil Ramesh Dave, Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, has been transferred to the Bombay High Court. Justice Dave has been asked to assume charge on or before February 15.

Also, there has been an exchange in the High Courts of Jammu and Kashmir and Sikkim with Justice Barin Ghosh, Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir, being shifted to the Sikkim High Court, and Justice Aftab H. Saikia, Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court, to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

Justice Jasti Chelameswar, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court who hails from Andhra Pradesh, is being shifted to the Kerala High Court, whose Acting Chief Justice Kurein Joseph was recently appointed as the CJ of Himachal Pradesh High Court.

The collegium has recommended that Justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court be elevated to the post of Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. Justice V. Gopalagowda of the Karnataka High Court is being elevated to Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court while earlier he was tipped to become the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.
