Symbiosis Law School, Pune

 

The Law Econ Cell of Symbiosis Law School, Pune is organizing a special lecture on ‘The Companies Bill, 2012' on Saturday the 16th of March, 2013 at Symbiosis Viswabhawan Auditorium, S B Road from 2:00pm to 4:30pm.

 

Harshita Srivastava and Sambhav Ranka shall be introducing “The Companies Bill, 2012” to the audience. Both of them are the experts in the subject and are presently working as Senior Associates with Nishith Desai Associates, a research based international law firm with offices in Mumbai-Nariman Point, Bangalore, Silicon Valley, Singapore Mumbai-BKC and New Delhi.  They are also the core members of Corporate and Securities, Funds and Mergers & Acquisitions practice group at Nishith Desai Associates.

 

The Bill was laid before Parliament on December 2011.  Based on the recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance it was later passed by the lower house of Parliament on December 18th 2012.

The Bill has introduced many significant changes including issues like concept of one Person Company, fresh merger and amalgamation, accounting, auditing and revelations as regards annual returns and constitution of the National Company Law Tribunal.

 

It has introduced many new chapters and seeks to bring about reforms in the governance of companies in India.

Dr Shashikla Gurpur, Fulbright Scholar, Director, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Dean Faculty of Law, SIU and Dr Bindu Ronald, Deputy Director, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, shall also be present to grace the occasion.
