The inauguration ceremony of the 5th annual cultural and sporting festival for Symbiosis Law School, Pune started with an audience at the edge of their seats at the Symbiosis Vishwabhavan Auditorium on Senapati Bapat Road on February 21. The program was initiated by a stirring speech by the Director of the Law School, Dr. Shashikala Gurpur. Dr Gurpur talked about the competence of the student body involved and praised all of the hard work put in. This was followed by the launch of the official T shirt of the festival.  Then a much awaited address was delivered by the chief guest Luv Ranjan, the famous movie director with multiple hits under his belt.  In an outstandingly desi speech he launched the fest in its true sense.

The play enacted for the occasion was a true depiction of Shakespeare’s classic “The Merchant of Venice” by our enthusiastic and vibrant first year students. The students enacted the famous act IV of the play, the trial scene where the climax of the tale takes place. The classic mercy speech and Shylock's cold tidings were perfectly captured by the youthful cast. Ramchandra Madan’s Antonio was spot on, as was the rendition of all the other characters.

Sparsh Prasad, the convenor of Symbhav 2013, then took the stage to deliver the inaugural address which set out the legacy that is the burden of the people involved in the fest, rousing not only deep emotions in the audience, but also reminding all of the onerous duties lined up over the coming three days.

This was followed by a dance put together by the first year girls of this hallowed institute. It was a showcase of the seven colours of the rainbow and the emotions they represent.  The dance named 'Spectrum' truly wowed the audience and left a lasting impression. The audience also witnessed a highly appealing video launching the theme of Symbhav, and by the end of it the atmosphere was charged with excitement.

|The event was concluded by a vote of thanks delivered by Sachin Ravi, the co-convenor of the fest where he stressed the great contributions made from every quarter of shareholders in making Symbhav possible.

If the inauguration ceremony was anything to go by, Symbhav 2013 will be the true mela of the college-goer spirit that it promised to be.
