SC Orders Protection To Couple Who Were Denied Relief By P&H HC's Observing 'Live-In Relation Is Socially & Morally Unacceptable'
A recent judgment by Punjab and Haryana High Court held that live-in relationships are socially and morally unacceptable. In an appeal passed against this Judgment, the Apex Court ordered that Punjab Police grant protection to the couple. The Court gave the said directions as the matter was concerned with the life and liberty of the couple which is a fundamental right. There are plenty of contrary orders passed by the Punjab & HaryanaHigh Court regarding live-in relationship matters.

"Shall Not Use IMA Platform For Promoting Any Religion": Delhi Court To IMA President In Suit Alleging Defamation Of Hindus By Promoting Christianity
The observation came from a suit filed by Rohit Jha who claimed that the IMA President, Dr. J. A. Jayalal started a defamatory campaign against the Hindu religion by promoting Christianity for proving that Allopathic medicine is better than Ayurvedic medicine for treating Covid. A Delhi Court asked the IMA President, to not use the IMA platform to promote any religion and focus on the welfare of the medical fraternity.

"They Are Not Previous Convicts, Not Even Gangsters": Delhi Court Rejects Plea For Producing Umar Khalid, Khalid Saifi By Handcuffing
The matter deals with Umar Khalid and Khalid Saifi who were accused in the Delhi riots that happened last year. The Delhi court rejected the plea of the authorities for producing the accused handcuffed in the Court for the hearing because they were high-risk prisoners. However, the Hon’ble Sessions Court Judge VinodYadav of the Court held that there were neither previous convicts nor gangsters.

Supreme Court Grants Two Weeks Interim Bail to Unitech Ex- Promotor Sanjay Chandra
Sanjay Chandra was arrested in connection to an FIR registered against Unitech Limited in 2015. The Counsel for Chandra prayed that he should be granted at least 4 weeks' bail due to the death of his father-in-law urging that his wife was in shock due to the sudden death of her father. The counsel stated that Chandra needs to be with his wife for emotional support. Hearing the plea, the Supreme Court granted Interim Bail of Two weeks to Chandra.

The Court Cannot Teach Ethics To People: Madras High Court Quashes Criminal Defamation Case For A Cartoon Published On Facebook
In this case, the Petitioner, Balamurugan had published on his personal Facebook page, a cartoon regarding a self-immolation incident that took outside the District Collectors Office in Tirunelveli. The Hon’ble Madras High Court held that the post of the Petitioner didn’t have any criminality in it. However, the Court did say that it might have been unethical and held that the Court cannot teach ethics to people. The Court quashed the criminal defamation case against the petitioner.

Justice DY Chandrachud Asks MP High Court Chief Justice To Take Corrective Measures To Address Quality Concerns Plaguing Video Conference Hearing
The Madhya Pradesh State Bar Council chairperson, Dr. Vijay Choudhary, had written to Justice Chandrachud emphasizing on the problems faced by a majority of Advocates practicing in the Madras High Court due to the video conferencing proceedings conducted using the platform ‘Jitsi’. On this, Hon’ble Justice Chandrachud wrote to the Chief Justice of Madras High Court Mohd. Rafiq to take corrective measures to address the concerns regarding inferior audio-video quality during the virtual proceedings.

The Central Government had recently passed a slew of new rules and regulations which were required to be followed and complied with by the social media giants. Though the last date to comply with the rules was 26th May 2021, the Ministry has given one last chance to Twitter INC to comply with the rules as a gesture of goodwill. Ministry Of External Affairs Grants Permission To A French Company To Sue Spanish Embassy In India
After rendering services to the Spanish Embassy, the French company – Ultra confidentiel Design Private Ltd. raised an invoice of Rs. 7, 08,000 which was not paid by the Embassy. As per Section 86 of the Code of Civil Procedure, suits against foreign states, rulers, envoys, or ambassadors can only be instituted with the permission of the Central Government. The Union Ministry of External Affairs, granted its consent, on June 4, to the French company to sue the Spanish Embassy in India, for the recovery of the amount along with interest for services rendered.

Domestic Violence Act Special Law To Promote The Institution Of Family: Karnataka High Court
The order was passed when the court heard the petition filed by a husband seeking to quash a lower court’s order granting custody of his children to his wife. The Hon’ble Court held that any order passed by the Magistrate under the DV Act is an appealable one. It was the opinion of the Hon’ble High Court that the Domestic Violence Act is special legislation to protect and promote the institution of the family.
