An Expert Committee was constituted in the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment to make an in-depth study of the problems being faced by the Transgender Community and suggest suitable measures to ameliorate their conditions. There were four representatives from the Transgender community, on the Committee.
In addition, a pre-legislative consultation meeting was held with concerned stakeholders including members from Transgender community. The details of members of the Expert Committee and the members who attended pre-legislative consultation meeting held on 18.1.2016 are given below:-
