UP govt lifts ban on student union elections

The Uttar Pradesh government lifted the ban of elections to the student unions in universities and colleges in the state. The announcement to this effect was made by Chief Minister Mayawati in the Vidhan Sabha in Lucknow. Mayawati said that the student union elections would be held in accordance with the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee report.
