OVERVIEW
WhatsApp’s latest transparency report update indicates that information will be exchanged with Facebook, the parent company. However, these recent changes have prompted users to disconnect from this program and opt for apps like Signal and Telegram.
Individuals using the app will have to approve or uninstall these new words by 8 February 2021.The latest update talks about sharing data with Facebook without providing any information. The desires of the customer have contributed to the embarkation of false knowledge.
THE GENERAL CONCEPTION
WhatsApp’s strategy was explicit to add that confidential chats would also be secured, which means that no third party would have access to them. Often, if the user sends messages, they will be erased from the servers. WhatsApp does, however, provide access to the approximate location of the recipient, and this can be posted on Facebook.
WhatsApp is focused on mainly business accounts so that it can explore monetization plans.
DATA PROTECTION AND EXPERTS’ OPINIONS
In the view of analysts, even though the chats end up encrypted, it also ensures that Whatsapp will now exchange the user's metadata, i.e. information outside the actual text of the message with Facebook and other applications.
Concerns over privacy and data sharing often derive from the need for data security laws in India. If those laws were in force, Whatsapp may not have been able to enforce this strategy.
If Section 5 of the Personal Data Security Bill were to apply, the current regulation of the application would have been in breach of the legislation. The section notes that information can be used for reasons that are fairly related to the purpose for which the information was given.
Users are confronted with only two options. They are either to embrace the policy terms in the expectation that the legislation will eventually come into action or to turn to another app.
