Will Ask NCPCR To Look Into Slapping Of Azharuddin: Renuka Dated : Saturday, February 28, 2009 20:34 IST Source : PTI New Delhi: Text Appalled at the slapping of young 'Slumdog Millionaire' star Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail by his father for not talking to the media, Women and Child Development minister Renuka Chowdhary on Saturday said she would direct the National Commission of Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) to look into the matter. "That is the sadness of our system. That is exactly why we have established the National Commission for Child Rights," she told reporters here. "Let me find out whether it is in the public domain. I will ask the NCPCR to take steps," she said. The minister said that parents think it was alright to hit their children. "We can also counsel the father to make him understand the issue". Young Azharuddin was reportedly slapped by his father when he refused to talk to media persons after alighting from the aircraft following his Oscar sojourn.
