Judges should be selected on the basis of voting by lawyers of the home region, since they are the right watchers of the caliber of the judges of their region. Judges committees should be stripped of the selection process in order to avoid favouritism and corruption. Further puisne judges shall also be re-appointed in the same manner until they become permanent judges.

Knowledge and maturity is the main asset of any SC Judge. it is apt to say that these attributes do not solely come from seniority. the man with more potentiality, irrespective of his term at the bar is the best man to be on the Judge's Chair.

Nothing else should matter but the cases the judge has dealt with till date.. His application of law, and skill of interpretation in each case should be the bench mark of appointment..!!!!

Seniority alone should not be followed for the appointment of Supreme Court judges other aspects like track record , the way of delivering judgments etc should play a vital role.

Seniority must not be the sole criteria. Others aspects like track record, integrity etc. must be taken into account.

Yes, definitely. There is a saying that the older the lawyer the better the lawyer, one thing. The second is- this criteria avoids unnecessary political intervention in appointment of Supreme Court Judges. This might be sole reason of seniority.

Seniority should be followed but not in all cases.. suppose the personality is an extraordianry one and professionally sound ..... here the seniority should not refrain the eligible person to achieve certain levels....

It is not seniority but quality of judges that matters. Hence while appointing judges, it is important to take into consideration the qualification, knowledge and integrity than just seniority.

MERIT PLUS SENIORITY BE FOLLOWED IN THE APPOINTMENT OF SUPREME COURT JUDGES. SENIORITY ALONE SHOULD NOT BE THE CRITERIA. FURTHER, AN INDEPENDENT AUTHORITY SHOULD EVALUATE THE MERIT OF THE CANDIDATE.

Yes this only the procedure in present scenerio. There is no criteria how much some one is intelligent and better than his senior. If senior is not possess the quality for the post no hesitation his junior should be appointed.
