Allahabad High Court today ordered a CBI probe into the Provident Fund (PF) scam in the funds of group-3 employees of state education department in Ramabai Nagar district today.
The court ordered that the CBI should also probe into the involvement of policemen involved in the scam and submit its probe report by May 22 next.
Justice Sudhir Agarwal ordered the CBI probe on a petition filed by one Girdhari Lal.
The court also directed the State Chief Secretary and DGP to take action against the local police, who tried to hush up the scam, and asked the Registrar of the HC to ensure compliance of of the court directive by sending the copies of the order to the state Chief Secretary, DGP and to the Director CBI.
During the hearing, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ramabai Nagar Rakesh Shanker informed the court that an FIR has been filed over the scam on September 21, 2010 and the probe would be completed within next one month time. However, the court rejected the plea made by the district police and ordered the CBI probe. Local district authorities had siphoned off money from the PF funds of the group-3 employees of different government and government aided schools in Rambai Nagar district.
