Query regarding Filing True copies

Please inform whether the True copies that need to be Filed in the Hon'ble High Court are the certified copies attested by the Notary Public or even photocopies are also treated as the True copies?

In Madras High Court, we file only xerox copy certifying them to be the true coipies of the original.

xerox copies of documents can be filed after stating that they are "true copies"  There is no need to Attest the same since they form part of the main document

This is not true of Panjab & Haryana. Even a Xerox copy can be marked as true copy even if it is a xerox of xerox and not the original.

when a true copy is filed the words true copy are written on the xerox copy and then signed by the person who claims that this is true copy  he is taking the liability about the document. no need of getting it attested by any authority

I want to find out about the following scenario. A case was filled under the Specific Relief Act. The xerox copy was filed with the words "True Copy" by the plaintiff's lawyer. When the application was filed for production of the original for examination by a Handwrting Expert then the plaintiff replied that original was never in his possession the "True Copy" signified that it was true copy of the xerox. Is this legal and what is the liability for the lawyer who signed it as "True Copy".
