Traffic road sign rules

I would like to know if there is any criteria for marking Yellow
single line on the roads. Is there are rules for this marking or any
road dimension that needs to be verified. Is there any rules? Can the
police mark yellow line on  any road any where?
Looking forward to get the information.

Dear brother,

My limited under standing is as follows:

ROAD LANE MARKING
“Separation of lanes on which travel is in the opposite direction, and where overtaking with care is permitted”
YELLOW dot LINE on ROADROAD LANE MARKING
“Separation of lanes or of a lane and should where lane changing is discouraged”
SOLID YELLOW SINGLE LINE ON ROADROAD LANE MARKING
“Separation of lanes overtaking is prohibited in both directions. Right turn maneuvers across this marking are not permitted”
SOLID YELLOW DOUBLE LINE ROADROAD LANE MARKING
DOT YELLOW & SOLID single LINE on ROAD
“Separation of lanes where overtaking is permitted with care for traffic adjacent to the broken line, but prohibited for traffic adjacent to solid line ”
