Dear Sir,

Taking the saptapadi is only necessary if your custom says so. Section 7 of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 states that if your custom requires you to take the saptapadi, then you must do it and only then your marriage is complete.

If you can prove that saptapadi is not part of your custom, your marriage will be treated as valid and legal. Also, No, sindoor and mangalsutra are not sufficient to prove marriage.
