Is registration of will important ?

hi all...

i want to make a will and am not sure if the WILL registration is compulsory ??? what implications can it bring is it not registered ??/

Registration of will is not compulsory. you have a will on the plain paper too. Registration of will is better as the same cannot be modified easily, since it is would be registered.

Will need not be compulsorily registered, however, it is always better to get it registered.

Under Section 17 of the Indian Registration Act, 1908, registration of Will is NOT  compulsory. The courts may not accept a WILL as genuine, even though it is registered.

if it is not compulsory and can be used wid out registration, what are the benefits of getting it registered ??

Will can be made on a plain paper signed by the testator. however you have options of getting it either notorised or registered. The genuineness of a  registered will is dificult to dispute.

The registration of will is an added advantage when you go for the probate of the will.
