The problem of a suspended GM of a public sector bank

P Panda, a serving GM of Indian Bank was suspended in May 2011 for not having ensured the door of the car of the CMD T.M. Bhasin opened properly...despite the mistake being that of a driver.

A very meek man, Panda went to the CMD in the Mumbai "guesthouse" of the bank to beg for forgiveness.

According to eyewitnesses, Bhasin was manhandled by the CMD, held by the scruff of his neck and kicked out of the place.

Not only was Panda's psyche injured, but also, he is suffering from a severe pain in the neck which may lead to omething very serious.

Indian Bank is now a house of scandals as are other public sector banks.

I published a blog on this.

Here is its link.

Even as you read this, kndly remember what this forum has achieved in the past.

In August 2010, disgusted by the "great escape" of disgraced Satyam Computers chairman Ramalinga Raju, I published a blog elsewhere.

Armed with a huge cache of ill-gotten cash, someone tried to kill that article...and the results became apparent to me.

I took it personally and published the blog in this and its sister site - CA Club.

The results are for all those to see.

Raju went back to prison.

Some of the conscientious persons amongst you silently brought the pressure on CBI and other statutory bodies to ensure justice is done.

We are professionals.

Unlike the babas and Annas we need not make a public noise.

The odd phone call to the right man at an even time is all it takes.

Best,

TSV Hari

Sir, I have gone thru your blog. It is highly perturbing to note the style and excesses of the good for nothing officials. They need to be booked. It is strange that such a charge sheet can be issued without any fear.

Recently whole of the senior staff was busy and engaged in unloading the luggage and baggage, and decoration and arrangements for a new city head of Canara Bank, in their duty hours. A senior official confided in private that he does not want to get transferred to a remote corner of a distant state. As per him, this is a tradition and if something e.g an electrical connection fails, the official or any of the family member shall place a phone call to some official who shall leave everything else and rush to get it checked and corrected. If he does not he shall meet with his fate.

If such can be clout for a just city head, one can imagine what it would be for CMD.

Bank managers are otherwise also termed as arm chair managers. They shall do anything to maintain the luxury of office.

Dear Mr Soni and other friends!

Once again, I raise my hand in salute to this forum.

You guys are simply great!

On June 17 2011, the first blog in this series appeared.

Here is the link:

https://tsvhari.sulekha.com/blog/post/2011/06/certifiably-unbankable.htm

As expected the jokers in the bank threatened the person concerned, the GM, Mr Panda, thinking that he will prevail upon me to cow me down.

Then the second blog appeared. Its link:

https://tsvhari.sulekha.com/blog/post/2011/06/certifiably-unbankable-ii.htm

The CMD, Mr Bhasin became jittery.

He tried to force Mr Panda to apologise and failed. He threatened Mr Panda to write to newspapers as though it was a suo motu letter. Failed again.

The Finance Minister cancelled the inauguration of the new HQ in Chennai.

One of my main allegations was that Mr Bhasin had a credit card with a Rs.1 crore limit.

Mr Bhasin surrendered the card...which, your lawyer friends will doubtlessly say, is a clear admission of guilt...if such a thing happens after the publication of a news item...something that Kalaignar TV and Kanimozhi did.

Since then three more blogs have appeared - the latest being one published today after Mr Bhasin [currently on his way back from Dubai] is said to have approached a very highly paid lawyer to take "legal action against a busybody journalist!"

Here are the links of other three blogs.

Meanwhile, I can say with admiration that some of you have raised the issue in the appropriate forums that have made the corrupt Mr Bhasin's life difficult.

Mr Bhasin has begun transferring people left, right and centre. He has begun abusing people. He has begun making sick jokes of all Bengalis especially persons with the family name Mukherjee attempting to bust his gut against the Union Finance Minister because Mr Bhasin has apparently tried to destroy the career of an upright officer with the same second name.

If Mr Bhasin is forced to quit under a cloud from Indian Bank, it will not be my victory alone. It will be the victory of every self-respecting Indian against corruption, who holds his heads high like Mr Panda...who refused to be criminally brow-beaten by his CMD - who for some strange reason is against all persons from eastern India - from Orissa all the way to Agartala - especially Bengali Brahmins and that will be an achievement singularly possible only because of support from the community that matters most to banks - Chartered Accountants and Lawyers - YOU, YOU, YOU!
