Threat to stop services by apartment owenrs association

Sir,

I am living in an apartment wherein the Apartment Owner's Assocaition is registered under Societies Act. The Assocaition was registered in 2014 and the maintenance charges are being collected /paid thrn online transfer.  I am paying the monthly maintenance charges regularly.

last year the association without any AGM and without having proper quorum and agenda, the association suddenly increased the maintenance charges and also took the decision for demanding payment of Rs. 1000/-  as water charges from all owners.

But the point to be noted is that the association has not submitted any statement of  accounts to the owners for the past 2 yrs. IN this connection, for clearing the increased payment and additional pameant of Rs. 1000/- when I started demanding the statement of accounts and other details like authority for writing of a huge amount of 1.5 lakhs on account of theft in the apartment (theft of fire nostles), status of police complaint lodged pertaining to the theft case, total debtors outstanding, the association is not responding and instead threatening that the services to my flat would be stopped till the payment is cleared.

Can I get the clarifictaion that - if the association can stop the for non payment of arrears of amount which has been withheld for want of some clarifications, financial status, statement of accounts, etc.,

Can I file a petition with the police or can i approach the consumer forum against the association.

You have to give a complaint to the Commissioner of Co-operative societies. follow up your complaint regularly till you get justice through its website online.

As you are not registered as a co-op society you cannot go to registrar of co-op societies. You can go to consumer forum.
