A relative expired about 6 months ago, leaving a will to be executed by his lawyer. The lawyer has informed one of the beneficiaries that there are multiple beneficiaries. On one pretext or another, the lawyer has been avoiding disclosing the contents of the will to any of the beneficiaries.
My questions are:
How long is the executor of a will entitled to delay disclosure of the contents of the will to the beneficiaries?
Is there some sort of statute of limitation, after the expiry of which the will becomes invalid and non-enforceable, thus giving the executor full control of the estate?
What are the legal remedies available to the beneficiaries under these circumstances?
Thank you.
