Accident leave & paternity leave

Dear Friends,

I have faced a problem that  if a person is accident while on duty who is not covered under the ESI while he is coming to office from his home, in that case how many days can mangement has sanctioned leave ?

What is Peternity Leave ? Is there any legal provision to sanction such leave to employee as per Indian Labour Acts ?

Regards,

PBS KUMAR

The employee met with accident while on duty. The pay leave for the period of bed rest/till declared fit to join the duties may be considered, compassionately. Medical expenses may be paid.

Parental leave is an employee benefit that provides paid or unpaid time off work to care for a child or make arrangements for the child's welfare. Often, the term parental leave includes maternity, paternity, and adoption leave. Often the minimum benefits are stipulated by law.

There are few PSU's, Corporate Offices Draft Flexible leave Policies for their staff

There is no law stating that Paternity leave should be given to an employee, but many big corporate are giving up to one week paid leave as paternity leave. It is different for many organisations. Unlike Maternity leave there is no hard and fast rule for Paternity leave.

In NTPC Paternity Leave is granted to a married employee up to two children for one week. As a matter of Policy these are provisions for employee’s welfare. So it is better to have uniformity as compared to the provisions in the same type of industry.

The valuable advice of learned experts/members is sought.
