Change in bail conditions

Dear All,

I would like to understand the provisions around change in bail conditions. I am an India-born Brit citizen who was arrested under 498a in Dec 2009 and released on bail. The bail imposes a condition that I should not leave the country without the court's permission. And I would like for this condition to be removed.

Can I file for a change in the bail condition? On what grounds? The chargesheet/FIR does'nt have any allegations against me on Indian soil (and apparently the Indian courts cant take cognisance of offenses conducted on foreign soil by a foreign citizen).

FYI: My wife has filed for cancellation of bail on allegations that I have threatened her over the phone (false, number given is invalid number etc etc) - but the bail cancellation and 498a and DV have been deferred by 2 months to give us a chance to strike an out of court settlement.

Regards
