Citizenship

Page no : 2

I know that the question raised by me does not fall only uder the mandate of Indian law. But, being a law student myself, I believe that the members of the LCI are not completely ignorant of international law. I've posted this query on various forums and LCI was one such platform. Whether giving up of protection is equivalent to giving up of citizenship or not, is quite a relevant question on this forum. Answers from persons with a legal background are highly sought after.

If you care to read my previous reply, in point numbered 5, it has been clearly mentioned, the answer to your question is no. Giving up protection is not equal to giving up citizenship. When your country fails to protect you, you take protection/ asylum in another country. Where is the problem in this and how can one loose citizenship for failure of the government to give protection of rule of law to it's citizen? Being a law student, what is that you find difficult to understand or raising doubts in your mind? If you properly read the legal documents provided by the links from UN website, along with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, hopefully your doubts should get cleared.

Democratic Indian, I've gone through your answer and I don't have further doubts on it. Thank you.
