PAN & REFUND

I have been transferred to a new place & am filing IT returns at present city for past 2years. The range & circle of IT deptt is different from the previous one.

Is it necessary for me to get my PAN transferred to new address? Somebody told me to do so, otherwise I won't get my IT refunds. Kindly enlighten, If necessary to get refunds?

What is the exact procedure to transfer it? Whether the system works or its a cumbersom task?

Galsober,

You have to change the address in the Income Tax records technically, however refunds are issued on the address which is subscribed on the return of your income, the process is simple, visit a PAN facilitation centre of UTI or NSDL they will guide you with the procedure or you may contact your local tax consultant who will help you out. For the new PAN card the maximum time can be 10 days.
