I received an offer letter from an employer today!

Employer asked me to come with all the original documents. And according to former employee of the company.
Company keeps the original documents for 4 Months for verification purpose.

But I am not sure abt what should i do about submitting original document!

Should i ask him for some acknowledge document?

Take some acknowledgment from them if they want to keep the documents for verification.

As advised by Ms. Archana obtain proper acknowledgment positively.

The acknowledgment should be on letterhead of the company under the original seal and signature by hand of the competent employee of the company preferably the authority that has signed appointment letter, stating the intent, purpose, reason for retaining original documents, and period for which these are to be retained.

What kind of verification it is that takes 4 months to verify?

Verification can be conducted by sending photocopies/ copies attested by gazetted officer or notary, for verification.

Employer can always compare originals with copies and marl OSV on copies.

Employee may agree to submit attested copies and show originals for marking OSV.

Originals are property of the individual and no employer can exercise any kind of lien on it.

You may also verify if the company is inserting clauses or asking to sign some service agreement, bond etc……..

Sometimes the candidate is desperate to take the job and does not obtain proper acknowledgment. Consult elders in the family too.

There are threads suggesting later employees have to struggle for getting back the originals.

You may proceed as deemed fit at your end.
