WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens.
Secularism is the basic structure of the Indian constitution. The Government respects all religions. It does not uplift or degrade any particular religion.
Then, why we have religious wall hangings, religious ceremonies in government offices.
In India religion has encroached a big area of public land. Religious structures like temples, churches , mosques or gurudwaras etc. have been built not only on public parks and other open public land, but even in the congested streets and on roads causing serious traffic problems.
The offices of the government departments are no exception to this problem.
Precious lands of government offices have been encroached and illegal religious structures like temples, churches , mosques or gurudwaras etc. have been built on the encroached land ……. the land which was purchased out of tax payers’ money for office use only. Thus part of the precious land of government offices is being used for religious activities.
In most of the cases these religious structures have been built by the officers/officials of the department themselves while in few cases religious structures have been built by the outsiders also.
When the officers/officials of government themselves are encroaching office lands for construction of religious structures in office premises, then there should be no surprise when the general public encroach land on roads ,streets ,parks etc. ?
Religious functions/rituals/ceremonies are also being organized in these religious places, situated in the office premises, in which the officers/officials of the departments proudly participate. It is very unfortunate that secular atmosphere of the government offices is being destroyed by constructing religious structures and organizing religious functions/rituals/ceremonies in office premises.
We have unity in diversity, but such kind of activities destroying our unity and identity.
Kindly give me your legal expert opinion on this matter.
