Adjourned

Madras high court : My writ petition came up for first hearing and judge adjourned it without giving date. I checked online, the stage of case is mentioned as admission. Next hearing purpose is mentioned as admission. Respondents accepted to take notice on the first hearing. What does it mean. Pls clarify

The meaning of 'for admission' is that your case is in the stage of being admitted for further proceedings. The court at the stage of admission may admit the case if it is fit for being admitted or dispose of off if there is no merit.

Wher any counter filed or appearane was made.It is the discretion of the court to adjourn for further course of action.

Counter not yet filed by respondents. Only one hearing was done, that is the first hearing and the case was adjourned. Respondents took notice, stage of case is still showing as admission and next hearing purpose is mentioned as admission

In response to your query,

If your current case status is admission, it means that the case will be heard for the first time, and appropriate orders will be passed if necessary, and respondents will be directed to file a counter in the matter - this stage is known as interlocutary, and it is where a counter is filed or a vacate petition is filed if interim orders are passed - and final hearing is when the case is heard in the presence of both parties to pass final orders.
