Resignation of treasurer from a registered housing welfare society

The executive committee must be at least 7 for the Societies Act 1860.  So the General Body members may conduct an emergency meeting to fill in the vacant posts of the Executive Body and a majority of 2/3rds or 3/5th members present can approve it.

Society treasurers oversee all the financial records and transactions of an organisation. Like all other positions, when a treasurer resigns, it is necessary to conduct the transfer of duties properly so as not to affect other business functions.

Obviously, the joint treasurer shall take over. However, there ought to be proper hand over and take over.

You are yet to post complete facts. As such, any suggestions on the lines, as sought, isimpossible.

When a treasurer or any other officer bearer resigns his post as treasurer or from the Managing Committee, the normal provision is that at first the remaining members should accept his resignation and then elect a new treaurer to take over the work from the resigning treasurer. If there is a provision in the byelaws the Chairman, the Secretary or another MC member can take over the position in the interim. In any case the Managing Committee as represented by the Chairman would be responsible to manage the situation.
