If it is self acquired property of the Hindu Father he can make Will in favour of anyone he likes to give his property after his death, but if it is Hindu ancestral property where there exists share of all the Hindu Family members in the property father cannot give whole but only his share in the property to anyone by making Will for that part of the property in favour of anyone.

father can sell this ancentral property?, or can he claim to all children for self maintenance?

Vijay Raj Mahajan (Advocate)     10 January 2019

Father can sell ancestral property with consent of all his children and grandchildren but he cannot do of his own. Yes aged father can seek maintenance from all his children if he has no means to maintain himself.
