Defamtion suite under criminal/civil law timelimit

Trial of my case 306, 498A is still on for last 6 years. The complaint is running way from trail because of false acquisition and court has roped in the paramour with whom my late wife was engaged and staying . The paramour part was suppressed by complaint and police, but court ordered investigation and made him accused too. My query is "is there any time limit on filing defamation suite under civil /criminal law ? Is it good idea to wait till i get acquitted , then file defamation? Yes , i along with my family was defamed via media , email , newspaper.

You need to get acquital first then you can file defamation suit against the living person/s who defamed you .
