Does payment of Non Agricultural land tax confer ownership

We are lessees on leasehold land . Lease period 99 years. For the past 25 years or so the landlord is untraceable and the Non Agricultural land tax which was to be paid by him is now being paid by the lessees.

Does the payment of NA tax confer any ownership or title rights to the lessees ? Can the title be issued to the lessees at the tehsildars office ?

Payment of any tax does not confer the ownership.

However, it proves the possession, which in turn may prove to be beneficial

while you go on to claim ownership on the basis of ADVERSE POSSESSION.
