Dear Prof. Pratihar,
Termination has a vide meaning. It can be divided into two parts.
1. Employee's Volition : - Resignation & Abandonment of employment.
2. Employer's Action: -
a) Retirement : i. By attaining the age of superanuation, ii. Compulsary retirement.
b) Discharge : - i. Discharge simplicitor (not amounting to punishment) ii. Discharge after having been found guilty of misconduct (amounting to punishment) iii. Loss of lien.
c) Dismissal : (Pure punishment)
d) Removal : (Pure punishment)
e) Non renewal of Contract (not a punishment)
f) Non confirmation of service (not a punishment) etc.
