Family court "for steps" means

Dear members

She filed for divorce (Muslim) in family court. In the Mediation centre,  terms and conditions signed by both parties for divorce. Court date showing "await reports" status this I can understand but for some others it shows "FOR STEPS" after the await report.

I wish to know what is the meaning of "for steps"?

Is there any application that I need to submit.

Many thanks.

'Await reports' means the mediator has not yet returned the file to the trial court after the mediation has been completed.

Hence you may have to wait until then and get the decree pronounced by court on the basis of the compromise arived between you both.

"Steps" denotes the action, if any, to be taken by the parties once the mediation report is filed. Such steps are relevant only if the mediation arrives at a settlement.

Two different situations have been mixed up in the facts posted by  you as "report awaited" implies that the report of mediator is yet to be submitted to the court; whereas;

for "step" mean to proceed as required under procedure.

Prima facie it is not a real story rather hypothetical facts vis-a-vis query to give examination.
