Fixed deposit without any nominee

Hi,

We are six brothers and sisters & have dispute over a fixed deposit of 5 lac which was done by our late parents in 2001 .Now the problem is we have to file a case to get the amount from FD.

Is it possible if one among the siblings of the late parents can declare successors and claim the FD.and later on the amount can be distributed among others .

Suggessttions are appreciated.

The RBI has issued guidelines that are available on its website, and also at website of BCSBI,IBA and has to be available on website of the bank and in branch and a printed version is to be supplied to customer without any cost.

Master Circular on Customer Service

20. Settlement of claims in respect of deceased depositors

Simplification of procedure.

20.2 Accounts without the survivor / nominee clause

If you have not taken the dispute to bank/BM then BM may agree to release the funds provided all legal heir sign indemnity and provide surety of equal value…….

Or

You may have to obtain succession certificate from jurisdictional court………
