The amendment to the Central Standing Orders Rules regarding fixed term employment had become operational in March 2018. It is being said that these rules apply to whole of India. However, states such as Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana etc., are yet to amend the rules regarding insertion of the term Fixed Term Employment. Would it be possible to hire new staff on Fixed Term Contracts as my units are currently employing less than 50 people each in Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh. My question is 1) Do I have to modify my certified standing orders? 2) Can I directly employ new staff directly on fixed term employment basing on the Central Rules. I will be very thankful for any clarification in this regard.
