You should have stated as to which State your association is and under which act of the State your association was registered. In any case the byelaws will contain the provision with regard to resignations. You have to follow that.

Hi! Thanks for the question! Here you are just being subject to the drawbacks of unregistered presidentship agreement. You don't need to worry. It is not necessary to resign at the AGM. You can resign just the way last president did. This is a honorary position and you opted for it voluntarily and thus you are not dependent on anyone's approval in any meeting. If it was duely registered then you would have to address the resignation to the Secretary. Good Luck!
