Kindly confirm me what is the purpose behind for govt employee to maintain residential address within eight kilometer from the headquarter. can any govt employee do daily up down form his home town to office if house address is beyond eight kilometer if yes then how. and what is the consequences if employees do travel more than eight kilometer . i am working with LIC of India

Who told you this rule of 8 Km?
In whihc book/circular it is there for CG Employees?
People come to offce even from 80 Kms ( and even beyond) and are not late. I have seen people travelling from Ambala to Ludhiana. Mathura to Delhi. Kanput to Lucknow. Meerut to Delhi. Rewari to Delhi. Burdwan to Kolkatta.
Even 20% employees may not be residing with 8 Kms. At some placed even the Qtrs provided are much father than 8 Km.
