Hey everyone, I am reaching out to the people who can help me with some Housing society laws. There is a passage outside my apartment which is dark and doesn’t have much cross ventilation. My parents who are senior citizen along with other members residing in the same floor faces issues even in the day light, so my dad raised a request to the society committee that he wants to extend a window which is very small in the passage at his own cost. To that request society declined the request giving irrelevant reason. My dad raised multiple request to the committee for the same thing also there is a flat owner who has installed their kitchen’s exhaust in the passage but the society is not taking any action on this. After getting no response from the society committee, my dad proceeded with the civil work and extended the window by following all safety majors and made it in a very well mannered at his own cost. Now the society committee is harassing him to restore the window or else they will take action and start implementing fines in the maintenance. My dad gave valid reasons on which why he did that but still the society members are harassing again and again. Please someone who has knowledge of the laws, can you help me what legal action my dad can take on this?

Unless the society is taking legal action your father cannot fight back legally.
If they are continuously harassing him then he can issue a legal notice instructing them to refrain from indulging in such illegal actiivities failing which he can initiate letgal action against them through local police for the acts of harassment, threats and intimidation
