Depend on the offence. Ideally ASAP is the answer

WHAT IS ASAP?

Rajan Bhasin (Law Student)     01 September 2012

As soon as possible

IS IT APPROXIMATELY 7 TO 10 DAYS????????????

ADV S PATHAK (lawyer)     01 September 2012

IT DEPENDS.

IF POLICE IS INTERESTED THEN ON FIRST DAY

IF NOT, U WILL PRESSURISE THAN ONLY.

BUT ONLY REGISTERING fir IS NOT ENOUGH. POLICE IS SO GRATE THAT IT TAKES 1 DAY TO 3 YEARS IN PRESENTING CHALAN TO MAGISTRATE AFTER INVESTIGATION. AND THIS IS TRUE REALITY.

WHEN DOES THE POLICE CATCHES  THE ACCUSED?

IF A PERSON FILES A FIR

DOES THE POLICE CATCH THE PERSON IN 7 DAYS TIME?

Rajan Bhasin (Law Student)     01 September 2012

There is no such time limit.

Similar question as above.  When does police take action in 498a.?, at the very moment or  as per their convenience or any specific time period/investigation? What can happen when the wife files 498a from a different state where she lives?  Does the police of that state need permission of this state to take action?

Ideally depends upon the police how soon it sets the law into motion. If the police is guided by extraneous considerations, as it more often than not is, there can be a perpetual delay in investigating the offence alleged, or arresting the accused, unless done under a binding direction of a competent court.

@tenrique

No the police of one state does not require the permission of the police of another state when investigating within the jurisdiction of latter.

Sir..  One more thing I wanted to know whether there is any law in Muslim Personal Law, which can be helpful for me to get out of this mess for once and for all.  I gave my wife plenty of  chances to come on track and live a happy life with me, she used to agree, but always betrayed me.  I am a victim of desertation,  deprived of  my children, no aim in life left, and under a constant fear of facing false cases if and when I try to get justice.  What am I supposed to do.

No you cannot avail the benefit of Muslim personal law.
