If this marriage is legal ?

Dear sir

I am a 24 yr old guy planning to marry a 23 yr old girl. We have been in a successful relation from past 3 years.

Her meternal grandfather (a) and my father (b) are cousins. fathers of a and b were real brothers. is this marriage legal according to hindu marriage act ? I have consulted some lawyers earlier as well but could not get a rock solid reply.

I have read the hindu marriage act 1955 and i am not sure if this relation is a sapinda.

Kindly revert.

Best regards

It does not come under prohibitory relationship neither sapinda. You can very well proceed.

Bhardwaj,

Her mother would be a neice to your father according to the query, so the girl is a granddaughter to ur father. But nothing wrong in the marriage, as it would be absolutely legal.
