Is Anna Hazare really a Gandhian? Is he honest enough to lead a campaign against corruption? So far, people could only raise finger against few of his lieutenants. However, a 2005 report submitted to the Maharashtra Government by Justice PB Sawant suggests serious corruption charges against anti-graft activist Anna Hazare.

The commission set up in 2003 “to probe into the allegations of corrupt practices and maladministration into matters” of several state ministers and social activist Anna Hazare clearly indicts the Magsaysay awardee. The report submitted on February 23, 2005, concludes: “The expenditure of Rs 2.20 lacs from the funds of the Hind Swaraj Trust for the birthday celebrations of Shri Hajare was clearly illegal and amounted to a corrupt practice.” (p 365)

Sant Yadavbaba Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, a trust with which Hazare is associated since its inception in 1980, “committed illegalities” in its audits, according to Justice Sawant.

The report says, “There is no doubt that the trust, and therefore, the trustees of the trust committed illegalities.” (p 281)

According to Justice Sawant report, Ganpatrao Avati,a close associate of Hazare, had asked for an “amount of Rs 25,000 to process” an application. It thus infers “even those activists who were nearer to Shri Hajare were indulging in corruption and demanding money from the supplicants who came for relief from Shri Hajare.” (p 359-60)

According to this report, when Anna Hazare was asked about this, he said that when he had asked Avati about this allegation, but “Shri Avati had denied it.” (360)

The report suggests several other charges of illegality, corruption and maladministration against Anna Hazare.

Hazare sat on “fast-unto-death” to get accepted his demand for setting up a committee for the Jan Lokpal Bill, of which he himself is a member now.

AGREED WITH MR ASHOK.

Is Anna Hazare really a Gandhian?

---   THIS CAN NOT BE TESTED IN A LAB.

BUT HE DECLEARES HIMSELF AS A GANDHI BADI.

SO FAR WE OBSERVED HE NEVER USE HINSA IN HIS MOVEMENT.

Is he honest enough to lead a campaign against corruption?

---   I THINK SO.

---   WHAT IS THE RELATION WITH PRESENT ISSUE OF CORRUPTION?

IF ANY ONE IS GUILTY OF CORUPTION, HE WILL BE PUNISHED ACCORDINGLY.

BUT IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT, ON THIS GROUND, ANTI CORRUPTION BILL WILL BE STOPPED.

ANTI CORRUPTION BILL IS THE ISSUE OF WHOLE OF THE COUNTRY. LAST 42 YRS IT IS PENDING.

PEOPLE WANTS TO MAKE IT SUCCESS BY PASS THE BILL AS ACT.

Gandhism or Nazism is not the issue, the Issue is why Lokpal Bill has been kept in a coldstorage for the last half a century and when this Anna Hazare gave the whistle blow to enact it , the so called Indian intellectuals goes against him objectively not subjectively. Very unfortunate scenario indeed.

Being Gandhi means being a self less person having high morals and VISION to lead the world towards heights of the best in this world.

Today, as far as corruption is concerned, its no issue that I have to pay bribe for getting my works done. Corruption lies where law fails to check. That part of law needs correction which is beyond the scope of written law. Reason being, that part of law gives discretion to the AUTHORISED PERSON for acting in the best of his wisdom.

A government doctor is writing medicine available at a particular chemist shop only or of a particular company for specific disease on the ground that it is the best. What can your Anti Corruption Act do.

How many properties are being sold-purchased, every day. How many people are getting the same registered? How many people are paying stamp duty on actual basis? Can any law stop the cheating?

The answer is NO, because, the corruption is based on our choice. We canno change ourself. The land belongs to our forefathers. You have no right to stop us. The rule made by you is law and the rule we follow is Not law. Who says so. We are free to do what we like.

No law can change this mentality as on today. We can hope for the best. CERTAINLY, HE IS NOT GANDHI. Because, Gandhi changed the mentality. People burnt their clothes, gave their lives because they knew, the path is right on which he is taking us. But we know, the act of framing the act would create more corruption.

we have supected and spoken against swami ramdeva, without seeing his performance,if he becomes a PM.One reason-He wears safforn colour.

Then we criticised gandhiji even though he never wore saffron

now we criticse and doubt anna hazare...

we keep doubting each and everyone who wants to do smth for the country, even without actually seeing his performance,if he ever gets elected or if his goal gets reached.

for the time being, lets stop bickering and complaining and let these people do their jobs.

if they do any corruption in future,we can start bickering at that time.

till then, lets wait and watch.and think positively

" But we know, the act of framing the act would create more corruption."

---   MAY I KNOW HOW YOU CAME TO THIS CONCLUSION?

S. P. ASHOK (Advocate Bombay High Court 8450920005 advocatespashok@gmail.com)     27 April 2011

There are three sides of Anna Hazare. First, Those who want corruption free India, they want HONEST INDIA. (in favour of Anna Hazare), Second, Those for whom corruption is not at all a problem, they want CORRUPT INDIA (against Anna Hazare) and Third, Those who are not in the side of these two (neutral).

If a person is commenting on this issue, he is not neutral. Now two sides left. If a person is not in favour of Honest India, he is in favour of CORRUPT INDIA.

Honest will enjoy the company of honest and corrupt will attract the corrupt.

Rest of the conclusion, you all can draw.

Though this is not voting for electing leaders to run the Government and you can say anything but it would be better to say only after reading the draft Act being supported by Anna.
