A section of lawyers today assaulted Additional District Judge Pankaj Gupta while he was presiding over his judicial function.
The Additional Judge was hearing a divorce petition and inquiring about the authenticity of the petition filed in this matter. On this, the lawyer of the petitioner got agitated and started abusing the judicial officer.
After that some more lawyers joined the mayhem and started physically assaulting the judge on the dais.
The judicial officers of Delhi have unanimously resolved in their meeting to seek an appointment with the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court and to make a request to him to take appropriate remedial measures in respect of their safety and security.

The lawyers of Delhi district are going on strike tomorrow to protest against the service tax imposed on them. In view of this prevailing tension between the lawyers and judicial officers, the litigants are likely to suffer the most tomorrow.
