ROPAR: A lady sarpanch of Ganura village, about 42 km from here, was murdered by her in-laws on Sunday, for not meeting their demands for dowry. Acting on the complaint of victim's father, police arrested her husband, who has confessed to the killing.

Maninder Kaur, 27, who is survived by a two-year-old daughter, was married to Amrik Singh in 2007. Ropar SSP JS Aulakh said a case has been registered against Amrik and his parents at Noorpur Bedi police station. Amrik has admitted to murdering his wife, he added.

Maninder's father told police that her in-laws had called him up on Sunday night, saying she was unwell. When he reached Ganura, they told him that she had hanged herself to death.

Generally people do not consider to wife as human being. They wish a perfect wife in all  respect and continuous free flow money from brides home. Otherwise either kill or divorce her.
