A legal retainer is one who renders legal advice to an Organization on a temporary basis and is not on the payroll of the Company. If you do not want to suspend your practice ,you can take up the job as a legal retainer. Further, please read the offer document very carefully, as many companies use the term "legal retainer" akin to an employee and offer the same amount of benefits as a regular employee and also uses the term like "Full time retainer of the Company and you are not expected to work for any organization during the term of the Agreement".

Regards,
Arun
